The U.S. Bank Tower’s new attraction looks, coming this June, looks like a set piece from Mission Impossible.
From Chicago to the Grand Canyon—and even to rural China—glass-bottomed observatories are the flashy attraction du jour, the new way to say “enjoy a view like you’ve never seen!” Now, starting this June, thrill-seekers will have yet another opportunity to experience death-defying heights. Skyslide, a glass-enclosed slide, will open on the 70th floor of Los Angeles’s U.S. Bank Tower this summer, separating willing guests from the street below with just 1.25 inches of glass, reports the L.A. Times. The 45-foot slide will hug the side of the tallest building on the West Coast—hovering 1,000 feet above the street—and drop down to the 69th story. The slide is part of the building’s $50-million makeover, which also includes an observation deck, restaurant, and bar on the top floors.
